Small typo: asm.js is part of Firefox, however Emscripten is independent project. Emscripten is a crosscompilator, which can read C/C++ as input and on output we can get JavaScript or ASM.js subset.

Before you jump into Browser X is fastest. SunSpider is poor comparision for JavaScript perf. since its just test of how fast you can pull date info… (Which is unimportant in real world…)

asm.js is not a part of Firefox. Alpha versions of Firefox optimize for asm.js. All browsers and JS engines support it, since it is just a subset of everyday JavaScript.

Oh. Sorry. I was just stating that Emscripten generate code (in asm.js) which firefox interpret. ASM.js is “just” subset of JS, while firefox subsystem that handle it is called Odin Monkey.
